Mission/Vision

MPS Mission

The District educates all students for success in higher education, careers, and responsible citizenship so that the District is the first choice for families.

Walt Whitman Mission

Whitman School will build a strong academic foundation, encourage an eagerness to learn, affirm personal strengths, enhance positive social skills and nurture community involvement for all of our children in a positive, supportive environment.

Walt Whitman Vision

At Whitman School, we envision a rigorous, standards-based curriculum where all students will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and mindset to perform academically at or above their grade level in all disciplines. Every day, every student will engage in learning that will prepare them for success in post-secondary education, future careers, and life-long learning. This is the foundation we will use to guide our instruction during the year.

Walt Whitman Community Values

Whitman School is a safe Community where students have opportunities to make positive progress.

  • We foster positive, respectful relationships that validate and affirm the cultural beliefs and experiences of all students and staff in an equitable manner.
  • We are proactive in our professional growth leading to academic growth and meaningful, real-world, experiential learning opportunities for all students.
  • We are authentic in our relationships with staff, families and the community as we want strong school-family partnerships.
  • We are an evolving staff focusing on the individuality of all students and staff with a growth mindset and acceptance of all in the community.
