Trowbridge logoCloser to Lake Michigan than any other MPS school, Trowbridge Street School of Great Lakes Studies weaves ecology, Great Lakes, and freshwater lessons into its entire curriculum. Students here take a hands-on approach to learning, through the science and hydroponics lab, butterfly garden, and perennial rain garden.

Trowbridge works with community organizations to teach science beyond the school walls, through partnerships with private and public entities such as the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Highlights

  • Great Lakes and freshwater studies are blended into daily lessons
  • Dedicated science lab, where students learn hydroponics (growing plants in enriched water)
  • A Comprehensive Academic Unit (special education) for grades 5 to 8
  • English Language Arts instruction emphasizes reading proficiency
  • Community partners enrich education through theater, dance, and visual arts
