Gifted and Talented Programming at Golda Meir School

Schoolwide Enrichment Model Framework:

Golda Meir School utilizes the SEM: Schoolwide Enrichment Model created by Joseph Renzulli and Sally Reis. The primary goal of this framework is to provide enrichment opportunities and high learning standards for all students in order to achieve three outcomes:

  • Talent Development: Cultivating the unique potential within every child.
  • Broad-Based Enrichment: Providing a broad range of advanced-level enrichment experiences for all students, and
  • Targeted Advancement: Offering advanced follow-up opportunities for students based on their strengths and interests.

For more detailed information regarding the SEM framework, click here: https://gifted.uconn.edu/schoolwide-enrichment-model/

Golda Meir School services five areas of giftedness in grades 3-12.  These areas include:

  • General Intellect- Exceptional capacity for higher-level thinking, including reasoning, planning, and complex problem-solving.
  • Subject Specific Intellect- The ability to perform at an exceptionally high level in a given subject area.
  • Leadership- A developed aptitude for guiding individuals or groups to a common decision or action.
  • Creative Thinking- The strong ability to think innovatively and to articulate original and valuable ideas.
  • Artistic Ability- The high performance capabilities in academic artistic areas such as drawing, painting, and sculpting.

Acceleration Options:

For qualifying students in grades 3-8, Golda Meir School offers subject-specific acceleration options, primarily in Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA). Please note that our school does not offer full grade-level skipping
