High School

Questions about High School Admission should be directed to Mr. John Hickethier ([email protected])

  • Small high school experience with an advanced curriculum; students begin AP coursework during their freshman year.
  • Students are required to take a minimum of two AP courses during their high school career.
  • Interdisciplinary curricular focus with a global studies perspective.
  • Formal partnership with the College Board.
  • Students will have an opportunity to obtain an Advanced Placement diploma if they successfully pass four or more AP exams with a score of 3.0 or better.
  • Students will have Spanish bilingual skills upon graduation from high school. Students will be required to take a second language offering in their junior/senior year (Arabic/Mandarin).
  • All teaching staff will be AP-certified.
  • Golda Meir middle school students will take pre-AP courses in preparation for rigor of AP classes at the high school level.
  • All students, beginning in Grade 8 will take College Board Readiness Assessments (Grade 8: Redi-step Assessment; Grade 10: PSAT; Grade 11: SAT/ACT). Students who take readiness assessments score higher on SAT and ACT tests. Taking these assessments increases scholarship opportunities.
  • Unique global studies courses offer project-based enrichment learning opportunities.
  • Capstone project requirement for all graduating seniors. Students are evaluated on their ability to design, plan and manage a research project; collect and analyze information; evaluate and make reasoned judgments; and communicate their findings and conclusions.
  • Required service learning and cultural experience requirement for graduation.
  • Anticipated freshman class of 150 students (2014-15).
  • Online learning experience required.
  • Athletic partnership with Riverside University High School (football, basketball, swimming, tennis, volleyball, track, baseball, soccer, cheerleading).
  • Partnerships with downtown businesses allow for multiple intern/externship experiences.
  • Acceleration opportunities for advanced learners from elementary through high school grade levels.
  • Dual credit classes available at nearby colleges.
  • College tour opportunities available at each grade level.
  • International travel and exchange experiences are available for students at junior and senior year.
