Cold Weather Policies and Updates

December 4, 2024 by Jenny Cameron

Dear Parents, this letter was sent out to all Humboldt Park Families.  Click Here or check out the information below.

Now that the cold weather is here, we are asking that you please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Please remember it will be outdoor recess if it is 15 degrees and above with the wind chill factored in. The temperature is checked just before the lunch hour and an announcement is made whether it is indoor or outdoor.  Outdoor recess brings a chorus of yeahs!

We know how easy it is to lose a mitten or hat. Here are a few helpful hints for the winter season:

  • Please label your child’s clothing on the inside of the jacket and other apparel.
  • Urge your child to put his/her hats and mittens inside the jacket sleeve when not wearing the jacket or use mitten clips to attach mittens or gloves. If you are a crafty parent or know someone who is, you could crochet or attach a mitten string to join the mittens together.
  • Please make sure your child wears warmer clothing such as winter jackets, scarves, mittens or gloves and hats.
  • Please make sure your child is wearing socks.
  • Please keep your child home if he/she is feeling ill or has a fever.

Your child must be fever free for 24 hours before they return.

We are also in need of gently worn winter jackets and elastic waisted pants for girls and boys.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.
