Principal’s Message

Dear Kilbourn Learning Community,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of Kilbourn Elementary School. It is a privilege to join a school community with a strong foundation, a proud history, and a deep commitment to nurturing every student’s potential.

As I begin this journey with you, I want to share a few core values that will guide my leadership: trust, transparency, equity, and community partnership. I believe that strong relationships are at the heart of every successful school, and I am committed to listening, learning, and collaborating with all of you—students, staff, families, and community members—as we move forward together.

Academic excellence and equity are my top priorities. Every child at Kilbourn deserves a joyful, engaging, and rigorous education that prepares them for lifelong success. We will work as a team to support literacy, elevate student achievement, and ensure that every learner feels seen, supported, and celebrated.

I also recognize the importance of strong leadership and a dedicated staff. I am eager to support our educators and ensure they have the resources and environment they need to thrive in their work with students. Great schools are built by great people, and I look forward to strengthening our team at Kilbourn.

Most importantly, I want Kilbourn to be a school where families feel welcome and valued. I am committed to open communication, honest dialogue, and shared decision-making. I will be spending my first weeks meeting with students, visiting classrooms, connecting with families, and hearing directly from you about what makes Kilbourn special—and where we can grow.

This is a new chapter for all of us, and I am filled with hope and determination about what we will accomplish together. I truly believe that with our collective wisdom, care, and hard work, we can make Kilbourn Elementary a place where every child flourishes.

I look forward to meeting you soon. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—I want to hear from you.

With great appreciation,

Mr. Rick Bukosky Principal,
Kilbourn School
