Dear Byron Kilbourn Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! My name is Katara Woods, and I am honored to serve as Principal at Byron Kilbourn. With over 24 years in education—as a classroom teacher, District coach, and school administrator—I am deeply committed to supporting the success and well-being of every student in our school community.
I am excited and honored to begin my first year as principal of Byron Kilbourn and look forward to partnering with our students, families, staff, and community.
This year’s theme is “Taking Flight and Soaring Toward Greatness!” At Byron Kilbourn, Excellence is the Expectation. We believe every student can achieve at high levels when provided with a safe, supportive, engaging environment, strong relationships, and high expectations.
School begins promptly at 7:15 a.m., with doors opening at 7:05 a.m. Students arriving after 7:40 a.m. will be marked tardy.
As your new principal, I am committed to listening, learning, building relationships, and working alongside our families to create even greater opportunities for our students. Together, we can make this a year filled with learning, growth, achievement, and joy.
