By partnering with a variety of organizations throughout Milwaukee, Alcott students are able to receive support from their community and expand their horizons through new experiences. By realizing that the surrounding community believes in their success, Alcott students learn to have confidence in themselves. This motivates them to do their best in their academic endeavors, leading to future achievement.
Milwaukee County Zoo
Through the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Animal Ambassadors Program, second through fourth grade students at Alcott are given the opportunity to learn about animals, their habitats and how to protect endangered species. In the fourth grade, students visit the zoo several times and participate in a graduation ceremony.
Post-Secondary Partnerships
A variety of post-secondary partnerships provide Alcott students with mentors and tutors that encourage them to work hard and achieve their full potential. These partnerships are with Alverno College, Lakeland College, UW – LaCrosse and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Junior Achievement of Wisconsin
Alcott also has a strong partnership with the Junior Achievement of Wisconsin program, which inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. The mission of this program is to ensure that every child in the state has an opportunity to obtain an understanding of the free enterprise system. Lessons are organized according to the MPS Social Studies curriculum. At Alcott, the Junior Achievement curriculum is first implemented in K5 classrooms and continues through eighth grade.
Milwaukee Art Museum
Alcott’s partnership with the Milwaukee Art Museum enables third grade students to visit the museum several times during the school year. This partnership gives students the opportunity to learn about art and its history and to view various displays throughout the year.
Parenting Network
Alcott students in sixth through eighth grade benefit from a partnership with the Parenting Network, an organization that implements the RELATE (Relationship Education Leading Adolescents Towards Empowering) Program. This program is implemented during the second semester.
