Students

Eighty-first Street School sets high standards for all students while providing them with the resources and tools needed to achieve above and beyond those expectations. The faculty at 81st Street is committed to providing the best materials and opportunities for students in order for them to succeed. Students are guided to become self-confident learners who develop into strong and intelligent leaders. Each day, students are expected to arrive at 81st Street mentally, emotionally and physically prepared to learn. This not only means having paper and a pencil on hand, but displaying a positive attitude as well. A positive attitude warrants participation and hard work in the classroom, which is what we expect of our students and guide them to expect of themselves.

Eighty-first Street provides its students with a large, reliable support system. Students should never hesitate to ask a staff member for advice on challenging homework or a difficult personal issue. Extra homework help is always available. Students make 81st Street the wonderful learning community it is today and for that reason, the staff is determined to ensure that students are comfortable talking to their peers as well as staff members. Eighty-first Street houses an innovative computer lab available for student use.

Part of 81st Street’s commitment to excellence includes preparing students to excel in an ever-changing world. Because our children are the future, it is important they familiarize themselves with current technology and stay computer savvy. We encourage students to explore the Web in a safe manner. Students can explore these educational sites at the 81st Street computer lab or at home with their families.
