Neeskara School Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS):
Neeskara School will continue implementing our school-wide program called PBIS – Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. This is a school wide approach to promoting positive behavior. We live by the Ernie’s Expectations (named after our mascot Ernie the Eagle!) for behavior: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe and Be A Peacemaker. The staff throughout the building teaches the same behavior expectations to all students, and we practice and review our expectations throughout the year.
We follow Ernie’s Expectations in all school environments: lunchroom, lunchline, auditorium, playground, restrooms and more. Check out the Ernie’s Expectations behavior chart on the next page.
Students are recognized for doing what they are supposed to do with special Ernie the Eagle coupons, raffle prizes, classroom celebrations and school wide fun activities.
A team of staff meets twice a month to discuss all behavior issues that are occurring and quickly develop strategies to correct any problems with our system and help students do better.
The PBIS program will continue to be implemented in all MPS elementary and K8 schools this school year. Look for evidence of this positive system called PBIS around the school. Please feel free to discuss Ernie’s Expectations and Ernie the Eagle coupons and awards with your child/children.
