After-School Program

The Gwen T. Jackson School Safe Place provides after-school childcare and enrichment activities to K4 through fifth-grade students at Jackson.

Open from 2:15 to 6:00 p.m. on school days, the program provides structure and supervision by following a 1:15 staff: child ratio. The Safe Place supports Jackson student achievement and learning goals by offering enrichment activities that prepare youth for high school, college, and career success:

  • Academic support
  • Hands-on learning
  • Leadership development
  • Summer camp

The Gwen T. Jackson School Safe Place is led by three partners:

  • Milwaukee Recreation
  • Neu-Life Community Development
  • Gwen T. Jackson School

Costs

Milwaukee Public Schools Safe Places charge a nominal program fee, and most Safe Place programs accept Wisconsin Shares childcare subsidies. The inability to pay fees or to receive Wisconsin Shares authorization cannot be a barrier to participation for students.

For additional fee information, please contact the Gwen T. Jackson School Safe Place coordinator at (414) 333-8522.
