Hello I.D.E.A.L. Families! Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! My name is Mrs. Jennifer Carter and I am the very proud principal of Individualized, Developmental, Educational Approaches to Learning School or as we like to say: I.D.E.A.L.!!!! On behalf of the entire staff I want to welcome you to the I.D.E.A.L. School and our wonderful learning community. We are happy to have you here and we look forward to working with you as a team throughout the school year.
A few things about I.D.E.A.L. School:
- Unique multi-age learning environment. We have three multi-age units that are taught by teams of teachers who work collaboratively to create a
rigorous, hands-on learning approach for all students.- Primary Unit: Grades K4 through 2nd grade
- Elementary Unit: Grades 3 through 5
- Middle School Unit: Grades 6 through 8
- We are a proud STEAM school that follows school-wide Science themes.
- We offer piano lessons (no charge) to students in grades 2 through 8
- We offer band lessons (no charge) to students in grades 6 through 8
- We offer after school sports programming (seasonal)
- We have a partnership with the UWMilwaukee Art Department
- We participate in the Milwaukee Art Museum’s Junior Docent program (grades 3 through 5)
- We participate in the Danceworks program
- We participate with Arts @ Large in all grade levels
Good attendance is a must everyday!!!! Families need to strive for 95% daily attendance. Strong, consistent attendance promotes good academic progress. We encourage you to minimize tardies and early pick-ups too. Our school day is 9:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and we are in learning activities the whole time. Every minute counts!!!!!
Our school theme this year is “Let the Adventure begin…” we start this year with many changes: new staff as well as other staff in “new” roles. I am positive it is going to be a great year of learning, building upon our I.D.E.A.L. School community and so much more.
Weekly communications will come out every Wednesday (Home/School folders, newsletter, etc). Please also remember to keep all emergency contact information up to date. You can call the school office at 414-267-1600 with any questions. We are happy to assist you!
