After-School Program (Camp Goodrich)

Lowell P. Goodrich School hosts an after school child care camp in partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation.

Camp Goodrich is open every school day from  2:00 to 5:30 p.m. A nutritious snack or light meal is provided.

Our camp provides a wide range of activities that support students’ academic enrichment, cultural, physical, and social development, emphasizing affordability, quality, and safety.

About Milwaukee Recreation Child Care Camps

Thousands of families rely on Milwaukee Recreation Child Care Camps yearly—and in some cases year-round—to provide affordable, convenient, safe, and enriching programming for children ages three to 12.

Child Care Camps:

  • Offer services Monday through Friday on regularly scheduled school days.
  • Cater to students ages three to 12. Exact ages vary by location.
  • Are licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, and participate in the YoungStar child care quality rating and improvement system.
  • Form a safe, healthy, and engaging environment for students.
  • Promote creativity, reinforce knowledge, and offer a safe space for students to be themselves, offering a diverse set of developmentally appropriate activities:
    • Academic enrichment
    • Arts and crafts
    • Cultural activities
    • Community service opportunities
    • Field trips
    • Homework assistance
    • Mindfulness
    • Physical activities
  • Hire and train staff who earn State of Wisconsin Afterschool & Youth Development credentials and receive more than 15 hours of professional development yearly.
  • Serve students a healthy snack or light dinner.
  • Supervise safe transition(s) from day school into before- and/or after-school programs.
  • Charge affordable rates and are approved Wisconsin Shares childcare providers. Families may have options for financial assistance or subsidies to help cover childcare costs.
