Elementary/Middle School Programming (Grades K5–8)
Summer Academy combines academics in an acceleration model for an engaging four-week experience for current K5 through eighth-grade students. The Summer Academy curriculum integrates all subject areas with hands-on activities, field trips, and special programs with community partners. Bilingual, English as a second language (ESL), Montessori, and arts programming is provided, as well as summer adventures for various grade levels. Programs include:
- Science of Design: These academic skill-building and career-planning courses are open to students in grades six through eight. Participants are involved in high-interest, project-based programs over four weeks.
- Extended Learning Adventures: With the support of our community partners, students experience new subjects that encourage their curiosity and further their learning. They identify new interests and abilities, gain real-world experience, and prepare for future success.
Childcare camps, community learning centers, and Safe Places are available for before- and after-program care. Fees may apply; contact Milwaukee Recreation at (414) 475-8180 for more information.
