May Newsletter

May 15, 2024 by fregiehl

Hello Fairview Families,

Thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.  Although we are near the end of the 2023-2024 school year, we have four weeks for students to show their best work.  See below for Fairview School information as it pertains to May and the end of the year.

Keep your children busy by enrolling in the district’s Summer Academy – Summer Academy combines academics in an acceleration model for an engaging five-week experience for K5–grade 8 students. The Summer Academy curriculum will be a camp-based experience paired with hands-on activities, field trips, and special programs with community partners.  Click here for enrollment.

Spring Open House – Check out our Spring Open House next Thursday, May 23rd.  Our fabulous PTO will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair while having local food trucks on site.  Our classrooms will be open from 5:00pm until 6:30pm for your child to share their student work portfolios.  For more specifics on the type of food trucks and the books that will be for sale, see the flyer that went home today.

Fairview’s PLTW Program Earns Prestigious Award – Fairview School has received recognition from @PLTWorg as a 2023-24 Distinguished Gateway School, which recognizes schools across the U.S. for their efforts to provide broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW Gateway programs, a grade 6-8 STEM curriculum.  We are the only middle school in the district to receive the honor and only one of twelve schools statewide!  This award would not be possible without Mr. Floyd and all of his hard work.  Mr. Floyd, thanks for leading the charge in  providing students with access to relevant, engaging, and real-world learning experiences that expose the range of career paths and possibilities.

Looking for a summer camp for your kids?  Camp Fairview staff will be running a camp at Alcott School this summer.  The camp starts June 17 and will run through August 16, 2024.  For more information, contact Ms. Sexton at 414-651-1855 or email at [email protected].  Ms. Sexton will also have a sign-up booth at the Spring Open House.

Chromebook and Library Book Return – As we prepare for the end of the year, we are requiring all students to return any library books and their HOME issued chromebooks.  Chromebooks can be sent in your child’s backpack.   Teachers will be collecting the chromebooks and will be scanned back into our database.  Since all chromebooks need to be assessed, cleaned and inventoried, we need to have all library books and chromebooks brought to school by Monday, June 3, 2024.

Interim 3 Reports – Our K5-8th grade students received their interim reports today for the 3rd trimester.  This report is a snapshot of your child’s content areas and how they are progressing thus far during Trimester 3.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
