Fairview Newsletter November 2023

November 10, 2023 by fregiehl

Hello Fairview Families,

Yahoo!!!  Our wonderful Fall weather looks to be continuing on for several more days.  However, we Wisconsinites know that cold weather is approaching.  As we shift to the Winter months, please send your child(ren) to school dressed for the weather.  We want to continue to provide opportunities for our scholars to get fresh air and exercise.  Hats, gloves, and a winter jacket are necessities and when the snow starts flying please add winter boots.  Until then, let’s get outside and ENJOY!

See below for Fairview School information as it pertains to the month of November.

No Student Attendance – Friday, November 10 – A friendly reminder that tomorrow is Record Day for Fairview staff and there will be no student attendance.  Have a fabulous three day weekend!

Fairview Expansion Project – We are excited to share that our school will soon be getting underway with an expansion project!  In time for the 2024-2025 school year, our school will have a new addition that will make space for a larger, updated gymnasium, expanded art and science rooms; larger music room; other renovations to support small group learning; and more.  The expansion is made possible by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds known as ESSER III.  More information and construction updates to come in the months ahead.

Bring a Game, Take a Game Night – Let’s all take a break from our electronics by attending this fun, family event.  We all have our go-to games that we have enjoyed playing with our families. This event will allow us to pass on the game to a family and in return, receive a new game that you can create memories over the years to come.  The event will take place on Thursday, November 16th from 5:30 – 7:00pm in the Fairview Gymnasium.  Small concessions will be available for a cash purchase.  Hope to see you there!

Trimester 1 Report Cards – Trimester 1 report cards will be going home with students on Tuesday, November 28.  Families should be on the lookout for the report card manila envelope.  Please review the report (report card stays home) with your child and return the envelope with a parent/guardian signature.

Morning Drop-Off – As you are aware, the morning drop-off time is extremely busy.  Please give yourself time to park along the Parkway away from the bus and no parking zones.  We have placed orange cones in the areas that are designated for our buses and/or areas that are no stop zones.  Thank you in advance for following our morning drop-off procedure.

Picking Students Up Early – If you have to pick up your child before the end of the day, you must call the main office prior to 2:00PM.  With over 640 students, our end of the day routines and schedules are busy.  Please be patient as students will be called to the main office for pick up when a parent/guardian arrives at the school.

PAW Slips – One of the foremost advances in school-wide discipline is the emphasis on school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.  “PAW Slips” are positive reinforcement indicators that are given to students who demonstrate appropriate behaviors in all areas of the school.  Students will enter their slips in periodic drawings for recognition, privileges and/or prizes.
