Hundreds of students from over 30 schools in Southeastern Wisconsin participate each year, and only the top three groups in each category advance to the state event in Madison. Our Trowbridge students worked for months on their projects and were strong competitors in the competition. To compete, students were required to create a project, come up with an annotated bibliography, write a process paper, adhere to a strict set of rules, and answer questions asked by the judges. The students also had to create their topics around the theme of “Rights and Responsibilities.”

This was Trowbridge’s first attempt at competing in the National History Day competition, and they did an excellent job! Elena Herrmann, Everett Whitney-Wortz, and Miguel Ortega created an exhibit on the American Indian Movement in Milwaukee, and Mahreyo Palmer created a documentary on the Russian Revolution.

We proudly get to announce that Elena, Everett, and Miguel’s group is going to be competing in the state competition in Madison on May 3rd. Good luck at STATE! Although he is not moving on to the state competition, we would also like to recognize Mahreyo for all his hard work throughout this project.

Click here to see the National History Day in Wisconsin program.

Four of our 7th grade students spent last Saturday, March 8th, at UW-Milwaukee competing against schools from the region at the National History Day competition.
