Consistent standards will provide appropriate benchmarks for all students.<\/p>\n<p>These standards define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs. The standards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are aligned with college and work expectations;<\/li>\n<li>Are clear, understandable and consistent;<\/li>\n<li>Include rigorous content and application of knowledge through high-order skills;<\/li>\n<li>Build upon strengths and lessons of current state standards;<\/li>\n<li>Are informed by other top performing countries, so that all students are prepared to succeed in our global economy and society; and<\/li>\n<li>Are evidence-based.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As with all MPS schools, we use a standards-based grading system. Please reach out to your child(ren)&#8217;s teacher(s) if you have questions, need additional information, or want to schedule a conference to review class\/course progress.<\/p>\n<p>Please review our current <a href=\"https:\/\/k12.mps.school\/obama\/about\/school-improvement-plan-and-state-report-card\/\">School Improvement Plan<\/a>. Contact the school office if you have any questions.<\/p>\n<h2>Wisconsin Act 20: Early Literacy Remediation<\/h2>\n<p>Teaching students to read requires skill and science. Act 20 states that all Wisconsin schools must provide science-based early literacy instruction from K4 through third grade. Evidence-based instruction, assessments, and personal reading plans for those who need additional support help all students become capable, confident readers.
