{"id":65,"date":"2013-08-05T16:31:13","date_gmt":"2013-08-05T16:31:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www5.milwaukee.k12.wi.us\/school\/morsemarshall\/?page_id=65"},"modified":"2026-01-28T14:34:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T14:34:38","slug":"graduation-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/k12.mps.school\/marshall\/students\/counseling\/graduation-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduation Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MPS High School Graduation Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As you review your child\u2019s schedule, check to make sure he\/she is starting on the right track and continue to monitor his\/her progress throughout the year.<\/p>\n<table width=\"103%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\">Overall minimum of 22 units required to graduate.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><strong>REQUIRED:<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"15%\">4.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>English\/Language Arts<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>3.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>Mathematics<\/strong> (courses at or above the Algebra level)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>3.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>Science<\/strong> (content with laboratory studies in the Life and Physical Sciences)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>3.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>Social Studies<\/strong> as follows: 1.0 unit of U.S. History 1.0 unit of World History, World Geography or World Studies 1.0 unit of Citizenship (Gr. 9-10) or 0.5 unit of American Government (Gr. 11-12) and 0.5 unit Economics (Gr. 11-12)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1.5 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>Physical Education<\/strong> (over a 3-year period)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>0.5 unit<\/td>\n<td><strong>Health<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>Fine Arts<\/strong> (Art, Music, Dance or Theater)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><strong>ELECTIVES<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>6.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>A variety of electives are available, often related to the focus of the school.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>22.0 units<\/td>\n<td><strong>TOTAL<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\"><strong>In addition<\/strong>\u00a0to earning 22 units, students must successfully participate in one of the following three options:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Take an approved\u00a0<strong>Online Learning Course<\/strong>\u00a0(required or elective).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Complete 20 hours of\u00a0<strong>Community Service<\/strong>\u00a0approved by a school advisor.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7\u00a0 Take a course (required or elective) that includes a\u00a0<strong>Service-Learning<\/strong>\u00a0experience.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MPS High School Graduation Requirements As you review your child\u2019s schedule, check to make sure he\/she is starting on the right track and continue to monitor his\/her progress throughout the year.
