Attendance and Early Release Procedures

Milwaukee Marshall’s educational program is built on the premise that regular school attendance is vital to a student’s success in school. We are proud of our 94% attendance rate. Parents play an important role in developing sound attitudes about school attendance and are encouraged to work cooperatively with teachers to positively influence pupil attendance.

Regular school attendance is important because it contributes to high achievement and academic success. It also contributes to the characteristics of responsible citizenship.

The following reasons for absences are valid: Illness, serious illness or death in the family, medical or dental attention, religious holidays, mandated court appearances, educational or district-sponsored activities approved by the principal.

Steps to follow when absent from school

  • Parents must call the school on the day of the absence.
  • The Phone number is 414-393-2464.

Upon the return of the student

  • Parent or guardian must provide an excuse giving name, phone number, student’s home base, date of absence and reason for absence.
  • This excuse can be sent with the child, emailed to the school, or faxed (414-393-2315) Attn:  Attendance Secretary.

Steps to follow for an early dismissal

  • Parents must send a note with the student on the day of the early dismissal giving the time the child will be picked up from school.
  • The student must bring the note to the attendance office first thing in the morning to get an early dismissal slip.
  • The student will remain in class until the parent arrives and shows proper identification, which is checked against the emergency contact card.

Tardies

  • A little late is too late
  • Almost all tardiness is unnecessary.
  • We prefer to have a pupil tardy rather than absent. A student coming late in the morning or afternoon must report to the main office for an admit slip.
