Vision

Program Focus

Milwaukee Marshall High School is focused on STEM education and college preparation. The school’s science programming includes aquaponics coursework and a strong emphasis on Advanced Placement coursework in the high school grades, allowing students to earn college credits. The SpringBoard curriculum, the College Board’s official pre-AP program, is utilized for math and English language arts instruction in grades 9-10. The school is also the pilot for the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program which prepares students to be college and career ready.

Core Values

Learner Centered

We believe learning is a social process. We believe placing the emphasis on the learner and previous experiences and interests increases motivation for learning and greater satisfaction with school, leading to greater achievement. This approach emphasizes a variety of different types of methods that shifts the role of the instructors from givers of information to facilitating student learning. The learner centered classroom provides opportunities to reflect on and regulate one’s thoughts and behaviors through the use of multiple teaching styles that maximize learner engagement.

We believe quality education provides supported opportunities for individuals to understand knowledge through attaining higher levels of thinking.

College & Career Readiness

We believe all students should have equitable access and exploration experiences in college and career readiness.

Community

We believe we are connected to our community through words, images, symbols, and stories. Our respectful communication told well, defines our priorities, and enables us to imagine viable solutions, creating relevant information for people.

Partnerships

We believe partnerships with parents, families, communities, and other stakeholders are essential to quality public education and student success. We believe individuals are strengthened when they work together for the common good.
