This peer-to-peer suicide prevention program is available at select MPS schools.\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Squad<\/span>\u00a0members have regular meetings with trained advisors. They talk about mental health topics and learn to spot emotional distress. This helps them connect classmates with trusted adults and resources for support. Our\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Hope<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Squad<\/span>\u00a0raises awareness and reduces stigma to build a caring school culture.<\/p>\n<h2>Wisconsin Act 20: Early Literacy Remediation<\/h2>\n<p>Teaching students to read requires skill and science. Act 20 states that all Wisconsin schools must provide science-based early literacy instruction from K4 through third grade. Evidence-based instruction, assessments, and personal reading plans for those who need additional support help all students become capable, confident readers.
