The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school and provides instruction and rewarding opportunities which will benefit the students, community, and nation. It also develops skills in team building and problem-solving.<\/p>\n<p>This program complements the other academic clusters by enhancing student confidence and social skills. Leadership skills are practiced in the program\u2019s leadership lab setting for successful integration and application in all endeavors of academic study.<\/p>\n<h2>Staff<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mpsschoolwebsi.wpenginepowered.com\/hamilton\/about\/staff\/ltc-r-robert-l-hill\/\">LTC (R) Robert L. Hill<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Courses<\/h2>\n<h3>LEADERSHIP EDUCATION TRAINING 1 (LET 1) (OE541[5511])<\/h3>\n<p>Open to Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 (primary focus is on 9 graders)<br \/>\nPrerequisite: None<br \/>\nLength: 2 quarters<\/p>\n<p>The course will introduce students to the leadership program and its leadership skills. Emphasis will be placed on responsibility, privileges, and freedoms that underlie good citizenship. In addition skills will be developed in the area of logic and the ability to communicate effectively; and become proficient in military skills that are necessary for working effectively as a member of a team.<\/p>\n<h3>LEADERSHIP EDUCATION TRAINING 2 (LET 2) (OE5611)<\/h3>\n<p>Open to Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12<br \/>\nPrerequisite: LET 1<br \/>\nLength: 2 quarters<\/p>\n<p>The course will prepare students to become good leaders within the student command structure, show good leadership, physical fitness, good health and appearance, and describe the importance of American military history as it relates to America\u2019s view toward the future.<\/p>\n<h3>LEADERSHIP EDUCATION TRAINING 3 (LET 3) (OE5811)<\/h3>\n<p>Open to Grades: 10, 11, 12<br \/>\nPrerequisite: LET 2 and Instructor\u2019s Consent<br \/>\nLength: 2 quarters<\/p>\n<p>The course will involve students more as leaders, teachers, and counselors with their respective classroom units. Emphasis will be based on the knowledge of the federal and military systems of justice, applying leadership assessment principles, and displaying leadership potential. Students will be taught to effectively solve problems (inductive and deductive reasoning), supervision skills and to be an effective leader\/counselor.<\/p>\n<h3>LEADERSHIP EDUCATION TRAINING 4 (LET 4 and LET 5) (OE6111)<\/h3>\n<p>Open to Grades: 10, 11, 12<br \/>\nPrerequisite: LET 3 and Instructor\u2019s\u00a0Consent<br \/>\nLength: 2 quarters<\/p>\n<p>The course will emphasize the practical application of the students\u2019 leadership duties and responsibilities within the student unit structure, how to make critical decisions; and effectively apply leadership\/communication skills in an assigned command or staff position within the cadet unit structure, and demonstrate the ability to market oneself for a job.<\/p>\n<h3>CADET TEACHING PRACTICUM\u00a0(JROTC 5) (OE6711)<\/h3>\n<p>Open to Grade: 12<br \/>\nPrerequisite: LET4 and instructor\u2019s consent<br \/>\nLength: 2 quarters<\/p>\n<p>This course will provide a vehicle for cadets to assume positions of greater responsibility to perform specific duties. This is a project-based course where students will be assigned and perform real world jobs.
