As temperatures begin to drop, we want to be sure everyone in our school community stays safe, warm, and well-prepared. Cold weather can increase the risk of frostbite, hypothermia, and unsafe travel conditions. Attached are helpful infographics, and below are quick tips to help our families stay warm and safe:
Key Reminders:
* Dress in layers: Encourage students to wear hats, gloves, scarves, warm socks, and waterproof boots.
* Limit time outdoors: Extremely cold or windy weather can cause frostbite in just a few minutes.
* Stay dry: Wet clothing lowers body temperature quickly—remind students to change out of damp clothes as soon as possible.
* Travel safely: Allow extra time for drop-off and pick-up, and watch for icy sidewalks and roadways.
* Look out for others: Check in on younger children, older adults, and anyone who may need additional support staying warm.
* Stay informed: Follow school weather updates for delays or closures.
