The Boys &amp; Girls Club provides a Before-School Program\u00a0beginning at 7:30a.m. and a After-School Program ending at 6:30p.m. that includes bus services. Scholars engage in daily homework help, NBA Math Hoops, Girls Scouts, Art, Dance, Character &amp; Leadership development and Computer Literacy activities\u00a0all within a\u00a0safe environment,\u00a0led by positive role models and leaders. For more information, please contact the Program Manager, Alvin James at alvinj@boysgirlsclubs.org.<\/p>\n<h2>SPARK<\/h2>\n<p>SPARK is an early literacy intervention program geared towards grades K5-2<sup>nd<\/sup>.\u00a0\u00a0 Scholars work one-on-one with tutors throughout the school year for\u00a0three half hour tutoring sessions per week. Sessions consist of building skills in word study, reading, comprehension, vocabulary and writing.\u00a0For more information, please contact the Program Manager, Jan Kaufman at jank@boysgirlsclubs.org.<\/p>\n<h2>City Year<\/h2>\n<p>City Year is an education focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep scholars in school and on-track to graduation. Here in Milwaukee, City Year corps members work in eight Milwaukee Public Schools, serving as tutors, mentors, classroom support and role models. At Carver Academy, a team of ten diverse corps members provide targeted support in the areas of attendance, behavior, and course performance in reading and math in grades 3 &#8211; 7. Corps members also support after-school programming, as well as partner with the school to run family and community engagement events, such as literacy and math nights.
